Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is all set to unveil its latest handset in India. The company has already sent out the invites for the event on January 19. Although Xiaomi is tight lipped about the product that is to be showcased, in all the likely it is going to be the highly anticipated Redmi Note 4.
The Redmi Note 4 was launched in China back in August last year and since then there had been no news about the device coming to our shores. On the contrary, Xiaomi results for 2016 suggest that it has grossed over $1 billion from India and a large chunk of it comes from the sales of its ever popular Redmi Note 3. Keeping this into consideration, it may very well be a change of perspective for Xiaomi in India in near-term. As for Redmi Note 4 aspiring consumers, take note, its better late than never.
The Redmi note 4 shares a familiar design language with the Redmi Note 3 and the few distinguishing elements being the 5.5-inch FullHD display which is 2.5D curved and the chamfered edges which makes it look a better finished product. The China spec model is powered by a Deca-Core Helio X20 chipset and Xiaomi may perhaps plonk in a Snapdragon SOC for India. The rear facing camera is a 13-megapixel f/2.0 aperture with Phase Detection Autofocus technology and the front is a 5-megapixel selfie spec shooter with wide angle lens. The fingerprint sensor is positioned at the back as its predecessor and it retains the microUSB v2.0 for connectivity.
Some other features include Dual sim 4G support, microSD expandable up to 256 GB, Dual band Wi-Fi radio, Bluetooth v4.2, IR blaster etc. The handset runs on Android Marshmallow OS v6.0 with Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 on the top. It houses a humongous 4100 mAh battery to provide the essential juice.
