Indian Start-up Creo Launches Mark 1 For Rs 20,000

With Creo, India gets its very own OnePlus. A Bangalore start-up that has absolutely no experience in the phone manufacturing, but is hoping to sell its first handset Mark 1 for Rs 20,000 a pop.

Going by the tagline, “New Phone, Every Month experience”, the Indian brand promises a steady stream of frequent updates. According to the company, it is made possible by its “proprietary stock Android based Operating System – FUEL OS”. I know, it is weird to see the word ‘proprietary’ followed by ‘stock Android’. Anyway, it seems Creo would be using stock Android with some “exclusive” suite of apps and services.

Firs up is Retriever. This app helps you find your lost phone, even if the device is reset. Another feature dubbed Sense is a universal search that can be triggered by tapping on the home button twice. The last one called the Echo is a voice based answering machine. How original!

The Mark 1 features a sleek metal body, protected by Gorilla Glass 3 on both sides. It sports a 5.5-inch with Quad HD resolution. Creo hasn’t mentioned whether it is an LCD or OLED on its website though.

Creo Mark 1 launched

The phone is powered by a 1.9 GHz True Octa Core Helio X10 chipset, which is found in much affordable LeTV Le 1s. The phone has 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. The Mark 1 comes with a microSD card slot that supports up to 128 GB expansion. The 3100 mAh battery supports fast-charging. It is a dual SIM with phone with 4G connectivity.

In the photography department, it brings a 21 megapixel Sony IMX 230 Exmor rear camera. For selfies there is an 8 megapixel snapper.

CEO & Co-Founder, Sai Srinivas, stated that, “What makes these features better every month, is the first-of-its-kind, community inclusive update system that stems from feedback and suggestions from users. With their invaluable input, we will be able to deliver on our promise of making Android better.” Yes, community inclusive update system is absolutely unique just like OnePlus and Xiaomi.

The Creo Mark 1 will be available on the company’s official website and Flipkart for Rs 20,000.
