Chinese brand Gionee has launched its new handset the S6s. The phone has 5.5-inch Full HD screen, which is protected by Corning’s Gorilla glass. The handset features a 13 megapixel camera. Gionee claims to use Sony’s IMX258 sensor. To please the selfie addicts, Gionee has thrown-in an 8 megapixel front-facing camera with an LED flash.
The phone has 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. Using a microSD card slot, you can expand it by 128 GB. The 4G LTE handset comes with connectivity essentials such as Wi-Fi Bluetooth 4.0, and A-GPS. It comes with 3150 mAh non-user replaceable battery.
Now comes the bummer: The Gionee S6s is powered by Mediatek’s octa-core MT6753 chipset. With relatively cheaper handsets such as Lenovo’s ZuK 1 packing in powerful processors, the S6s is going to be a hard sell for Gionee. If that doesn’t kill the buzz for you, then Gionee has appointed Alia Bhatt as its brand ambassador. If you buy this handset, a part of your hard-earned money is going to support the daughter of a Bollywood star.
If all this wasn’t bad enough, the Gionee S6s is priced at Rs 18,000. Nobody in their right mind will pay this much for a Chinese handset that is backed by an unreliable Mediatek processor.
