Ghostbusters is one of the most iconic movies of the 80s. Released in 1984, the movie’s special effects were ahead of its time. Its synthpop soundtrack refuses to get old even in 2016. More importantly, not many sci-fi movies had characters as charming as Egon Spengler, Peter Venkman, and Raymond Stantz. The memorable movie got an equally great, if not better, sequel in 1989 — Ghostbusters II. Fans had to wait over 25 years to get third time lucky though.
The third motion picture in the franchise, is a reboot simply named Ghostbuster. The upcoming movie is directed by Paul Feig, known for the buddy cop movie The Heat and Spy. This time around, it is an all female team — Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. A few months ago, it was revealed that the film will have a staggering $150 million budget. With the release date only a few months away, Columbia Pictures have finally let out a trailer.
Going by the trailer, the production values seem impressive. However, the characters seem to lack charisma. Maybe it is too early to comment, but the trailer is also devoid of a single moment that makes you chuckle. Being a Ghosbusters’ fan, I hope the directer is saving the best bits under the wrap.
